Travel Show Podcast #21: Experimental Travel
The Travel Show #021 (MP3 - 4.5MB - 13min)
Imagine going to a bar that you have never been to, ordering a drink, and then as the barperson serves you, you ask them where they go to drink and what their favourite drink there is. You then head to that bar, ask that barperson what their favourite bar and drink is, go there……and so on….
This is one of the many “experimental travel” experiences that can be had in the Lonely Planet publication. Two of my students, Erin Hines and Karina Smith, give this experimental travel experience a road test here in Melbourne.
Enjoy.
Doc Martin.

I’ve included this podcast note in my next Blog entry at www.thetouristexperience.com. I think I’d like to visit St.Jerome’s. I also went to the Lonely Planet website you post. Thanks.
There can be many “spins” on your experimental tourism theme. Maybe take photos at the places within Melbourne business district where people direct you to the ‘happiest/most exciting’ locations (where they define ‘happy/most exciting’) — and post your results on www.triptracker.net

Edward, Thanks for your comment!
I’ve had a look at your www.thetouristexperience.com site - I like it a lot! I will incorporate your site into some of the teaching I do.
Triptracker also looks very good. I have a 3 week trip to Thailand, China and Hong Kong coming up in a few months. I may try posting pics and comments on triptracker.
It would be good to have digital pics come up on a video ipod during a podcast. I have heard that you can do this if you have a Mac computer - I use IBM. Do you have any clues?
I have also tried to insert synchonised lyrics/comments on a podcast using the advanced tag editor/lyrics function, but cold not get it to work. Any clues on this as well?
Cheers,
Martin.

Sorry I did not reply earlier. I did not realize your comments would appear here instead of through my email.
I will explore solutions to your two questions and return with my results after I get back from my trip to the La Have Islands.
Though I have not yet explored TripTracker, I wondered if hyperlinks (to Podcasts) could be included with the text/image logs to the right of their maps. An email sent to the TripTracker folks regarding their plans indicates that their full package is due November 2006.
Cheers

Do you plan to PodCast from TravelTech in Sydney 22 Aug 2006 or have someone there PodCast for you?
This should be an interesting, relevant event. I wish I could go. The seafood on the Sydney Harbour sounds great.
