Travel Blog #18: Vic Uni Wins National Tourism Education and Training Award
In case you (the reader) are not aware, I work as a lecturer in tourism at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. I would like to share a little triumph we here at Vic Uni have had…
Each year there is a competition to see which organisation provides the best quality of tourism education and training. This is done on a state basis, then on a national basis. The federal organisation named Tourism Australia is the major sponsor of the event.
Categories other than Tourism Education and Training include best Major Tourist Attractions (this years winner was Sovereign Hill, Victoria), best Luxury Accommodation (this years winner is Crown Towers, Victoria), and best Ecotourism product (this years winner is Kingfisher Bay Resort and Village, Queensland). Check out the Tourism Australia website for more information:

The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Marketing at Victoria University (http://www.vu.edu.au/) has won the state award for Tourism Education and Training three times in recent years, putting us into the state Hall of Fame. Last Friday (24 Feb) we won the national title for the second time.
I get an enormous amount of satisfaction from my work. It’s the cherry on the top of the cake to know that I do my work at the best tourism education and training facility in the country.
Doc Martin.
